Description

Z Counter-Patch is a specially formulated cement patch mix. Fine and fortified, Z Counter-Patch is the quickest and easiest way to fill the voids that occasionally appear in your countertop edges. It dries quickly to a standard light gray concrete color (white option also available) and can be easily colored to match your countertop surface.

Directions: In a small pale or bucket mix necessary amount of Z Counter-Patch with a small amount of water to achieve desired consistency. Do not mix more than needed at one time. For filling larger voids, Counter-Patch can be mixed to a thicker putty like consistency. For filling in small voids or cracks, you can mix to a thin slurry paste. The Patch can be applied with a gloved hand or putty knife and allowed to set up. Having a damp sponge handy to clean up excess Patch is a good idea. Once the Counter-Patch is fully cured, it can be sanded smooth with regular sand paper. The time this takes will depend on how large the voids are and how much water was mixed with the patch but should be anywhere from 1-6 hours.

Decent Product

"The concrete itself looks good when mixed right, but I had difficulty getting the consistency in the videos from the recommended water ratio. The area coverage per bag also seems to underestimate actual coverage, so buy extra."

Q&A

Do you need to use any bonding or primer to use this product to fill cracks or can you apply directly to dried concrete with lout prep
This product does not require a bonding agent for filling cracks or air voids in the edge.
how much comes in the bag/box? How heavy is it?
It is an 8lb bag. Coverage will vary depending how larger/ deep the voids you are trying to fill but in most cases one box will do a pretty large kitchen.
I USED Z LIQUID CRETE WITH SAND TOPPPING MIX QUIKRETE AND ADDED 2 SCOOPS OF CHARCAL Z TERRA TINT TO THE MIX..... FOR THE PATCH KIT CAN I ADD THE CHARCAL TINT TO THE MIX AND IF SO HOW MUCH?
You will want to add the pigment to your patch. There is not an exact formula you can use but what I would advise is to mix your patch first then slowly add color until you achieve the same shade of the wet concrete during the pour.
Can the patch be mixed with color pack to help match my countertop mix?
Yes, if you used an integral color in your concrete when you poured the countertop, you can also use it in the Patch to help match the color.
Could this be used as a skim coat over the concrete countertop?
No, this should not be used as a skim coat. Only a slurry to fill in voids or cracks. For a skim coat, we have a product called Micro-Topping.
Will this work for some cracks around the sink? We did an undermount sink and we had some issues with settling around the mold. Major issues were fixed but once it settled we got a few cracks and would really like to fill them sand and re-poly the whole thing. Will this product fill those cracks?? We may have stain leftover as we added the almond I think. If not I will add to it but I know it won’t be exact. Any tips suggestions and process would be great!
It will work for that but please email us at info@concretecountertopsolutions.com for more tips and tricks on how to make this look the best.
Is this something I should apply before sanding? I think I have some laitance to sand out - not sure if I should sand before or applying the counter patch. Have the aquathane 35 to seal with once finally cured.
Typically you will apply the patch before doing the majority of the sanding so that the patch gets sanded even with the rest of the top. You will need to sand well and remove laitance before sealing.
How long do I have to wait before installing my epoxy undercoat after installing the Z counter top patch?
Give the patch 24- 48 hours to cure and you should be ok to apply epoxy. However, you do want to make sure the concrete has been curing for at least 7-10 days before applying an epoxy coating.
My countertops were formed using sand/topping mix and adding the Z Liqui-crete. Would this match the color/hue?
No patch or slurry mix will ever match perfectly because they are made up of different components but this is gray cement based as is the concrete so it will be quite close. The idea is that it should be within the range of natural variation that the concrete exhibits.
