Canvas Microtopping is an easy to use trowelable style microtopping mix used for resurfacing existing concrete. The new surface is ready for staining and sealing providing a brand new "concrete" countertop. Trowelable style allows finisher to mimic the look of freshly troweled concrete.

 

Must use Flexy Bo Bonder to prime the application surface. To get the best possible results when finishing, it is highly recommended to use Z Trowel-Slick.

Sealers: Because of the high polymer content penetrating sealer like SiAcryl 14 will not work well with this product. Aqua-Poxy is the recommended sealer. It will provide great stain protection and some impact protection as well.

"***Does not color tint the same way as the White Z-concrete products. Final product came out slightly lighter with a grey/brown hue. *** We used this product to top a previously placed concrete counter with some imperfections we wanted to cover. We were hoping to tint and generally color match the other counters in the kitchen (charcoal tint), which were placed using the White Concrete product. We ratioed and measured the tinting properly, but final coat came out a noticeably different color. Much lighter grey and a bit browner. Now our counters are two noticeably different colors. In hindsight, I should have just used an epoxy. Product applied well and was easy to work with. Seems to have a very good bond, we don't have anything delaminating or flaking off. With a good sealer I suspect this will be durable. We used the FlexyBo bonding agent, but used two coats to prevent moisture wicking to the slab underneath (a common issue, leading to crumbling). I can't give it less than a 3 since the product itself worked as described. There just isn't clear guidance on tinting, as this is a third-party product."

Microtopping

"Went on smooth over my concrete table that had more imperfections then I’d like. Followed directions and all it needed was light sanding. Some areas are darker than others because of the thickness of the pour. But I like the swirls that it made."

Horrible.

"Followed directions to the T, which weren’t hard along with cleaning and application of flexi Bo. Woke up and they just didn’t look right, the top was crème colored. Came home and actually analyzed them to find out the layer was chalk like. Could dig in it easily with my fingernail. Left them alone for another 24 hours and the same. Tapped around with the tip of my finger and it just popped off in some spots. Had to spend 2 days scraping and sanding. What a complete mess this stuff made."

Extremely difficult to work with

"This product did what it's supposed to do, but boy is it stressful to work with. It has a strange plastic like consistency and hardens very quickly. Z instructed me to try some on a spare piece of cement board, which I did, but I should have practiced more than I did with a larger peice of board, maybe something more comparable to the size of the countertops."

Q&A

I've got some significant cracks (probably 1/16" +\-) - would this fill them?
You wouldn't not use this just in the cracks but you can use it over the entire surface of the concrete to cover the cracks for sure. If you want to send us some pictures to info@concretecountertopsolutions.com, we can recommend a fix.
Can this be mixed with the black powder to resurface a black countertop?
Yes, you can add an integral color to this overlay to make it darker. You will not get concrete pure black with an integral pigment but you can always use a color enhancing sealer over the top to make it even darker.
I’m looking to reseal my countertops after several years of use. On the previous coat I used the G40 sealer. Assuming a light sanding would be preferred before applying a resealing coat? If so what would be the preferred grit?
Yes, I would sand lightly with some 100 or 200 grit sand paper to put a good scuff on the surface before resealing.
if you have not sealed the countertop yet and want to fix some imperfections, do you still need the bonder?
The bonder is only if you are using the Micro-topping. The patch would not require the use of bonder.
Is it easy to sand? After how long? Any instructions?
